Branching stories
Outline of the activity
To further develop their story writing skills groups of 4 children planned ,developed and wrote their own interactive branching stories. They were able to create linked multimedia pages using the tools available in Primary Writer. They presented their stories to the rest of their class using a a laptop and multimedia projector
Skills Covered
The children used a multimedia package to organise, refine and present a set of linked multimedia pages, which incorporate images, sounds and text. They worked collaboratively to create complex stories that matched the needs of their audience.
Rationale
The activity encourages children to work as a team, develops their imaginative skills and allows them to develop their story writing skills in an interesting manner. The use of ICT enhances the presentation of the story and makes it interactive.
Result
Children were able to produce well-written interactive stories. The children worked extremely well within their groups and enjoyed presenting their stories to the rest of the class. They all decided it was an activity they would like to try again.
